Angie Gorder
Executive Business Development Advisor
As executive business development advisor for First Light, Angie Gorder is tasked with assessing and enhancing the firm’s business development and client service infrastructure, with an eye toward creating a best-in-class experience for the firm’s investors.
Gorder has spent more than 25 years in the alternative investment industry. She is best known for her expertise in business development, raising capital and delivering client service at institutional hedge fund managers, including Pine River Capital Management, O’Brien-Staley Partners and Argentem Creek Partners, where she was a managing partner and ultimately shifted her focus to strategic decision making, business risk assessment and management of the firm. She has served on various firm committees overseeing operations, risk, compliance and other functions related to institutional fund management for many years.
In addition to her work at First Light, Gorder owns Samfilippo & Co, a consultancy focused on increasing the number of female chief investment officers in high finance. In this role, she supports investment managers wanting to achieve better gender equity on their investment teams and at the highest levels of the organization. She currently serves on investment committees for The Minneapolis Foundation and the St. Paul-based Northwest Area Foundation. She is a member of 100 Women in Finance. In 2020, she was recognized as part of the Hedge Fund Journal’s “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds” and in 2011 as an Institutional Investor “Rising Star.” In 2007, she founded the Twin Cities Committee of Help for Children (f/k/a Hedge Funds Care) that raised money for local abused and neglected children.
Gorder graduated from Michigan State University with a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor of arts degree in accounting.
