As chief compliance officer, Jin Lien draws on her legal expertise to lead and manage First Light’s compliance initiatives, including ongoing compliance testing and review, monitoring of internal policies and communications, proactive identification and mitigation of compliance risk, and oversight of the firm’s regulatory filings.
Prior to joining First Light, Lien spent eight years as a civil litigator in Seattle. After relocating to Minnesota, Lien provided discovery consulting services related to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalls, and Department of Justice (DOJ) inquiries. These experiences enabled Lien to hone her compliance analysis and risk evaluation skills. In addition, she was an administrator at a venture capital-backed Internet company where she managed personnel services, legal documentation and contracts, and assisted with shareholder communications and general marketing campaigns. Lien graduated from St. Olaf College with a bachelor of arts degree in composition and earned a juris doctor degree from Seattle University’s School of Law.
